Why Washington D.C. and its iconic Hamilton Hotel should be on your bucket list

Hotels of America – Day 3

From glamping in the Catskills, to songwriting in Nashville, a culinary hotel in Washington D.C. and an authentic Seattle hideaway, to the good old fashioned bright lights of New York City – some hotels step outside of the norm for American vacationing.

And this week HotelView is highlighting six properties that might grab your attention when making your holiday plans.

We continue today with Hamilton Hotel, Washington D.C.

If there is one place that deserves a slot on your bucket list, then Washington D.C. is it.

And the newly renovated Hamilton Hotel is an ideal base for Europeans to stay and explore the nation’s capital and all its wonders, defined by its imposing neoclassical monuments and buildings that include the Capitol, White House and Supreme Court.

The iconic 318-room property stands at 14th and K Streets that has been a notable destination in the heart of the nation’s capital since 1922.

And despite the hotel’s many incarnations and renovations since then, the building has retained its integrity and deservedly features on the National Register of Historic Places.

The hotel was the site for many inaugural balls, including the gathering for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who also used the hotel as his War Room during World War II.

Its most recent multi-million-dollar renovation transformed the building into a modern luxury hotel, with all of the city’s historic monuments just a few minutes away.

The new restaurant, Via Sophia, a southern Italian Osteria, helmed by executive chef Colin Clark, features rustic Italian fare in sleek, art-deco style digs, and the hidden micro-luxe cocktail bar, Society, offers bespoke concoctions.

Rates start at $115.
