The Cranleigh Boutique’s new Church Suites have been named as the best hotel suites in the UK and second in the world at a prestigious design industry awards ceremony.
And after the presentation in Portofino last weekend, the hotel’s owner, Stephen Hargreaves, described the award as “life-changing. We are beyond stunned.”

The International Hotel & Property Awards 2015, in association with design et al, shortlisted the newly launched Church Suites in the categories of “Best Hotel Suite, Global” and “Best Hotel Suite, Europe”.
The Cranleigh suites were vying with some of the world’s finest hotels from as far away as Hong Kong, Bali and Oman, but still managed to take the runner up position in the global category, in a glittering ceremony held at the Hotel Splendido, in Portofino, Italy, last weekend.
Hosted by design et al, a leading interior design magazine based in the UK, the International Hotel & Property Awards exist to commend design and recognise talent, with the awards inviting and receiving entries from the world’s top architects, designers and hospitality operators.
“The awards represent a diverse range of design styles from throughout the world and are both culturally rich and inspirational.
They enable us to view and vote for the work of some of the most talented architects and designers,” said design et al publisher, Joanne Beedles.
The Church Suites, part of the Cranleigh Boutique brand, based in Bowness-on-Windermere, launched in January of this year and have been fully booked since opening.

No expense was spared in creating the four futuristic and luxurious suites, all of which come with intelligent controlled lighting, music and video, enabling the user to completely control their own environment. Air spa tranquility baths for two feature in each suite, with a glass bathroom an extraordinary feature of the “Fantasy Suite”.
Stephen Hargreaves, who has already won a clutch of local, regional and national awards over the past two years, said: “Both the Cranleigh Boutique and the Hideout House have won numerous awards over the past couple of years, but with the Church Suites, we have really taken the accommodation experience to the next level. Being named as the best UK hotel suite and second in the world is mind blowing. I’m not sure how we can top that.”
