A WELL-EARNED BREAK … Intensive Care Nurses to enjoy FREE luxury stays at some of Britain’s top hotels

Nights On Us

Every intensive care nurse in the UK is being offered two nights at some of the most famous and luxurious hotels in Britain to thank them for their front line efforts during the pandemic crisis.

Various internet and travel professionals have joined forces to create the biggest hotel industry collaboration of its kind called Nights On Us.

Nights On Us consist of volunteers and companies, boasting more than 30 years of experience within the luxury travel and hospitality sector, working to give ICU nurses something to look forward to after all their hard work.

Digital specialists including Black Tomato, Journey and Wiser Websites have been offering their expertise.

Their ambition is simple: for the next 12 months they will be asking properties to offer rooms that otherwise would have been unoccupied while the hotel industry slowly returns to normality.

“Our target is to provide 100,000 hotel stays,” says Jacob Pickering, one of the founders. “This is clearly an incredibly ambitious number which will only be achieved with the support of many hotels across the UK.

“If we are able to exceed this figure, it would be fantastic to open the initiative out to cover a wider network of NHS and care workers.

“During difficult times, when those who do save lives are putting themselves at considerable risk and feeling unclear on what the future will hold, we wanted to show our appreciation to these incredible people the only way we know how. Providing a light at the end of the end of the tunnel. Our way of saying thanks.”

Tom Harding, another volunteer involved, adds: “By connecting th ICU workers to the hotels, we hope that it ticks two huge boxes.

“On one hand, a memorable thank you to some incredible people who are working tirelessly to save lives, and on the other, a public sign that the UK hospitality industry cares and will come back stronger than ever once the pandemic is over.”

By the beginning of August, more than 6, 000 rooms had been pledged by participating hotels that include The Savoy in London, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire, Burley Manor in the New Forest and Swinfen Hall in Staffordshire.

The Nights On Us booking portal is planning to launch this Sunday (16 August), from when ICU Nurses can then access the site and book their break.
